FLAMINIO MINOZZI 1735 - 1817
Study for a Ceiling Stucco decoration
Pen and brown ink, various watercolours
10.5 x 25.5 cm
Most of the recorded graphic works of Minozzi represent corner or half ceiling studies. Three such drawings are in the Princeton University collection in New Jersey (inv.nos.68.192 to 68.194), one in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (inv.no.1971.513.55) and another in the Museum of Art in the Rhode Island School of Design (inv.no.58.078). The drawing exhibits a fluid and brilliant draughtsmanship which has strong rococo forms which indicate that the drawing must have been made before 1800, when his style became increasingly neoclassic, very hard and dry.
The attribution has been confirmed in a communication by Prof. Alessandro Zacchi, Bologna, after having seen the present drawing in original.
Framed with anti UV glass and acid free passepartout.
