The one proposed by our Gallery is an unobtainable authentic work by Master Simone Cantarini, created in 1631, in the full period of his Caravaggio-esque creative phase with references to the art of Master Guido Reni of whom he was a pupil.
You can see levels of an authentic masterpiece for this painting to be considered, especially for the naturalistic choice of the model, in all respects worthy of the Gentileschi, one of the significant works of the great artist from Pesaro, here more than in Reni attentive to examples by Domenichino and therefore probably datable before 1635 (perhaps 31 or 32).
Despite the relative modesty of the commitment, a half-figure, the work stands out for the airy breath and the classic composure of the composition.

Good conditions, some obvious signs of aging in need of restoration.
